An “electrical fault” on one of its buses is believed to be the cause of a devastating fire at the Bromsgrove depot of bus operator Kev’s Car & Coaches which started on Friday night and resulted in the destruction of 21 of its buses.
TfWM posted on Twitter this morning that Kev’s bus services in south Birmingham would not be operating today or Monday (14th March):
Owner Kevin Nind spoke to the Bromsgrove Advertiser today and confirmed their coach-operated school services will run as normal on Monday, while public bus services will resume next week.
Kevin, aged 59, said: “I’m devastated.
“We have put a lot of hard work into the firm, but we’ll bounce back.
“All of our workforce came in this morning. I can’t praise them enough, they have been brilliant.
“The firefighters did a remarkable job stopping the fire spreading to the building.
“I got a call from the landlord around 8pm last night and when I arrived it was a mass of orange flames.
“It was roaring, I just couldn’t believe it.
“It almost seems worse today looking at all the damage.”
Kevin said school transport will be operating as normal on Monday and it is hoped most bus routes back up and running by Tuesday – some with smaller vehicles.
“We will bounce back” says owner of fire-hit Kev’s Cars and Coaches – Bromsgrove Advertiser
I truly do wish that this small local bus operator is able to recover and ‘bounce back’ from this, I know they have spent a lot of money investing in modern new buses for their services that operate in the south Birmingham area, and I wish them all the best.
