After a lockdown induced delay, National Express West Midlands’ first fully electric buses are finally ready to hit the streets of Birmingham and Solihull, and will enter public service from Sunday 5th July.
Originally pencilled in to enter service back in March, the 19 brand new fully electric double deckers are all now at Yardley Wood garage, and will begin operating on the 6 service, which runs between Birmingham and Solihull via Sparkhill, Hall Green and Shirley, from this Sunday (5th July).
Now that production and delivery has recommenced, the first of these electric vehicles destined for Coventry have started to be delivered into the West Midlands. I’m still unsure what route those will ultimately end up on, but in the interim they are being delivered into the Birmingham Central garage for branding to be applied, and for use in driver training.
